A copy of the Old Measures

 

1. The Quadran Pavan beginning at the first strain[1]

2 singles and a doble forward, 2 singles, a double back 4 times and so end.

 

2. Turkeylone beginning at the second strain

A double forward and a double back 4 times, set 2 singles, a double forward and a double back, arise a double forward and a double back 4 times, as you did before and so end.

 

3. The Earl of Essex Measure beginning at the first strain

A double forward and a single back 4 times, set 2 singles, a double forward and a double back once. Do this once again and so end.

 

4. The Tinternell beginning at the first strain

A double forward and a double back once, take right hand in right hand, turn 2 singles and a double round both the ways. A double forward and a double back 4 times, take right hand in right hand, 2 singles both the ways and so end.

 

5. The Old Almain beginning at the second strain

Take by both the hands, turn 2 singles and a double round both the ways. Lead 4 doubles forward, take by both the hands and turn 2 singles and a double round both the ways and so end.

 

6. The Queen’s Almain beginning at the second strain

A double forward and a double back, set 2 singles face to face and turn a double round in your 1 place, a double forward with the right leg and back with the left leg, set 2 singles face to face and turn a double round, lead 5 doubles forward and a double back, set 2 singles face to face and turn a double round. Do as you did before and so end.

 

7. Madam Cecilia Pavan beginning at the first strain

2 singles and a double forward and a single back twice, set 2 singles face to face and honour with the left leg, cross over into each other’s place with 2 singles and a double and honour with the right leg, embrace and honour with the left lags. Do this last once again and so end.

 

8. The Black Almain beginning at the first strain
