ABOUT

The OMIC archive, a project developed at the Skenè Research Centre, University of Verona, presents an easily readable and searchable database of the eight manuscripts dealing with dance at the London Inns of Court in early modern England, c. 1570s – c. 1670s. The digitised versions of the MSS – i.e., a PDF diplomatic edition reproducing the original manuscript, a semidiplomatic and a modernised edition – are supported by glossaries for technical terms and essential bibliography about early modern English dance.

OBJECTIVES

OMIC is aimed at:

• giving essential information about the terpsichorean practice in London’s Schools of Law in the sixteenth- and seventeenth-century
• providing dance aficionados with user-friendly open-access English Renaissance manuscripts about dance steps and choreographies
• providing scholars with machine-readable manuscript texts
